Friday afternoon, Paul and I took a jaunt down to Tawas Point State Park. The wind had really picked up, gusty almost, and we were pretty sure that the kiteboarders would be out. We weren't disappointed.
These kites are enormous.
The sky is beautiful with all the kites
Once the kiteboarders learn to manage the kite (we saw several people practicing on land), they take to the water. Impressive - skill, patience, awareness (not running into other kiteboarders) and upper body strength managing the kite.
First, the kiteboarders get the kite in the air.
Then it takes a bit to get going, especially if you doing it all by yourself.
Then they fly.
So impressive.

Everything about this sport looks fun ... and expensive. It's so much fun to watch. Cheers!

Wow Deirdre this is sooo cool, we did not get to see them while we were there, wished we had, it looks like so much fun, hope to see it sometime maybe next summer. Thanks for sharing you really take great pictures, Darlene
Hi Darlene! It's so much fun to watch these kiteboarders. Tawas Point is quite popular as a premier destination because of its location and all the wind it gets.
You have to see it next summer. :)
There was a group of them at the mouth of the river, with kites in hand hitting the big waves.
Wow, another set of great shots! Seems like they would be running into each other out there! It does look like fun though!
